About the Event

The Precision Warfare Revolution introduced by the U.S. military in the First Gulf War found the United States enjoying a near monopoly in this form of warfare for several decades. But now other powers have these capabilities. The U.S. military confronts an emerging military revolution driven by advances across a wide range of technologies—from artificial intelligence and synthetic biology to quantum computing and additive manufacturing. In his new book The Origins of Victory: How Disruptive Military Innovation Determines the Fates of Great Powers, Dr. Andrew F. Krepinevich explores how the U.S. can win the race to identify the next big thing in warfare by examining those militaries that went beyond the bounds of mere innovation to overturn the existing forms of warfare, changing the course of history and the fate of nations.

Join New America, ASU’s Future Security Initiative (FSI), and the Army Strategist Association as they host Dr. Andrew F. Krepinevich Jr. for a fireside chat about his recent book, The Origins of Victory: How Disruptive Military Innovation Determines the Fates of Great Powers. Dr. Krepinevich is a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, and president of Solarium LLC, a consulting firm. In 1995 he founded the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, which he led for 21 years. His service at CSBA was preceded by a 21-year career in the U.S. Army. Dr. Krepinevich has served in the Department of Defense’s Office of Net Assessment, and on the personal staff of three secretaries of defense as well as in other roles.
